College of Social Sciences and Humanities (CSSH) is one of the colleges when the University was established in 2017. It began with 23 academic staff members and 236 students. When it was established, there were four departments which were offering undergraduate programs. Currently, the college has 10 departments. Besides, three postgraduate programs have been opened in the year 2021. These are: MSc in Environment and Natural Resource Management, MA in Urban and Regional Development Planning, and MA in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL).
To make the University’s vision real, CSSH plays an important role in the teaching learning process, research and community services. The College has been producing qualified human resource and strengthening its capacity, and expanding its programs in line with the above three major duties and responsibilities.
The college has high engagement in research to ascertain the institutional goals. The main thematic area of the college are Language, Culture, Education, Urbanization, Media and Communication, Social Change, Conflict and Revenge, Good Governance, Politics, Federalism, Gender, Development, Land Management, Art, Heritage, Climate Change, Tourism, Indigenous Knowledge, and Folklore.
The college envisions to be one of the best preferable colleges in the study of social sciences and humanities from the Comprehensive Universities.
