A discussion forum with the university’s faculty members was held at Injibara University regarding the “Excellence Chapter” strategic plan.
At Injibara University, a discussion forum was convened with the academic staff on the 2017 E.C. annual plan performance report and the 2018 E.C. annual plan.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Gardachew, President of Injibara University, stated that the objective of the discussion was to critically assess the strengths highlighted in the 2017 E.C. plan performance report, identify and address the identified weaknesses, integrate the ongoing reform activities for this year, and prepare a roadmap to position the university as a center of excellence.
The President delineated the university’s developmental journey to date across three phases: from 2009 to 2013 E.C., the foundational phase; from 2014 to 2017 E.C., the expansion phase; and from 2018 to 2022 E.C., the excellence phase, during which the university’s expanded programs are intended to emerge it as a center of excellence.
The President noted that the period from 2018 to 2022 represents the time when the university will evolve into a comprehensive university, emphasizing that realizing this vision is possible through the rigorous implementation and integration of educational sector reform efforts.
To this end, he stated that establishing realistic key performance indicators (KPIs) for Injibara University in 2018 E.C. requires collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
In conclusion, despite facing numerous challenges in 2017 E.C., the university demonstrated improved performance. The President extended his thanks to the dedicated faculty and staff at every level for their contributions to this success.
The 2017 E.C. performance report on implemented activities was presented by Mr. Lingerew Atinkut, Strategic Affairs Excutive at the university, who provided a detailed analysis of key performance indicator (KPI) achievements and balanced plan performance. In the discussion, the university reviewed in detail its performance reports on teaching and learning, research and community service, as well as priority areas including agriculture and rural development, public health, tourism and job creation and entrepreneurship, and indigenous language, culture, and history.
Feedback and opinions from participants on the presented 2017 E.C. performance report and the 2018 plan were solicited, with responses and explanations provided by senior management. It was indicated that this discussion forum will continue with administrative and outsourced staff.
