Introduction about the Establishment:

In 2023 E.C, Injibara University took a monumental step forward in its academic offerings with the establishment of the Geology Department. This marked a significant milestone in the university’s commitment to providing comprehensive education in the geological sciences. The department is committed to fostering academic excellence and contributing to the sustainable development of the region and beyond.

Founding Vision and Mission:

The Geology Department was founded with the vision of becoming a center of excellence in geosciences education, research, and community engagement. The mission was to produce highly skilled geologists equipped with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to contribute to the sustainable development of the region and beyond.

Staff and students on the Academic Program:

The department introduced undergraduate program tailored to meet the evolving demands of the geosciences industry. These programs incorporated a balanced mix of theoretical knowledge and practical field experience, preparing students for successful careers in academia, industry, and government. The department consists team of three MSc holders of qualified and experienced faculty members who are dedicated to teaching and research in various geological disciplines such as mineral exploration and petrology. The Department of Geology attracts students who are passionate about understanding the Earth and its processes. Currently, the department has third and second year active students.

Research interest:

Research will be the cornerstone of the Department of Geology at Injibara University. Staff members will involve in a wide range of research activities that address local, regional, and global geological issues. Key research areas include:

Infrastructure and Facilities:

Currently, the department is requesting to full fill all the laboratories, field equipment, and geological mapping tools. These facilities will play a crucial role in providing students with hands-on experiences and fostering a culture of research and exploration.
