The Institute of Agaw Studies (IAS) was founded in 2022 with a profound dedication to preserving and celebrating the rich heritage of the Agaw people. The Institute comprises of eight departments namely: ethnological museum, library, theatrical art, literature, traditional and modern music, audiovisual, graphic arts, and language study and cultural research. The institute is mainly established to:
- develop and promote professional library and ethnological museum
- coordinate research, community service, technology transfer and serve as a center for Agaw studies in Ethiopia and internationally
- organize and promote seminars and thematic workshops on language, culture, indigenous knowledge, historical studies and arts
- document the intangible heritages of the society
- advance the fine arts in diverse aspects
