Injibara University Hosts External Validation Workshops to Launch New Graduate Programs

Injibara University recently convened an external validation workshop to inaugurate a series of new graduate programs. This initiative follows a comprehensive virtual curriculum review aimed at launching 13 advanced academic programs, including both Doctoral (PhD) and Master’s (MSc) degrees, within the Colleges of Engineering and Technology, Agriculture, and Natural and Computational Sciences.

Dr. Amiro Tadesse, Vice President for Academic Affairs at Injibara University, emphasized that the introduction of these new programs builds upon the existing 48 postgraduate offerings. He stated that these efforts are designed to cultivate a highly educated workforce in specialized fields by expanding the university’s graduate program portfolio. Dr. Tadesse highlighted the availability of diverse resources during the curriculum review process and noted the participation of scholars from various esteemed institutions across the country.

Dr. Esubalew Sinte, Director of Postgraduate Programs, outlined the specific fields targeted for the upcoming academic year. The proposed PhD programs include:

PhD in Hydraulic and Irrigation Engineering

PhD in Livestock Production

Additionally, the following MSc programs are set to be introduced:

MSc in Sustainable Energy Engineering

MSc in Hydraulic and Water Resource Engineering

MSc in Computer Science

MSc in Athletics

MSc in Volleyball

MSc in Biostatistics

MSc in Algebra

MSc in Physical Chemistry

MSc in Environmental Science

MSc in Plant Biology and Biodiversity Management

MSc in Project Planning and Management

Dr. Sinte also noted that the documentation prepared for these new programs was developed by faculty members of Injibara University. The curriculum underwent rigorous review by scholars from prominent institutions, including Bahir Dar University, Addis Ababa Science and Technology University, Gondar University, Addis Ababa University, Debre Markos University, Haramaya University, and Wollo University. The participants in the workshop provided valuable insights and feedback, contributing to the successful completion of the curriculum review.
