Injibara University’s Senate convened to review and approve the academic performance of graduating students for the Ethiopian academic year 2017 (2017 E.C.). Alongside this, the Senate endorsed twelve new postgraduate programs, marking a significant expansion of the university’s academic offerings.
During the regular session, Mr. Yimer Chekol, Registrar and Executive Director, presented the results of students completing undergraduate and postgraduate degrees through both regular and continuing education tracks. Following careful evaluation, the Senate gave formal approval to the results.
In a notable development, two faculty members, Dr. Yirga Yayeh from the Information Technology Department of the College of Engineering and Technology, and Dr. Bantalem Derseh from the English Language and Literature Department of the College of Social and Human Sciences, received unanimous promotion from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor. Their advancements reflect the university’s adherence to the Ministry of Education’s academic growth criteria, emphasizing excellence in teaching, research, and community service.
The Senate also ratified the launch of twelve new postgraduate programs set to commence in 2018 (2018 E.C.) across three colleges. These programs have undergone comprehensive needs assessments and quality reviews. Among the approved programs, two are doctoral (PhD) degrees, while the remaining ten offer master’s degrees.
The newly approved programs are:
- PhD in Hydraulic and Water Resources Engineering
- PhD in Livestock Production
- MSc in Sport Science (Athletics Coaching)
- MSc in Sport Science (Volleyball Coaching)
- MSc in Environmental Science
- MSc in Biology (Botanical Science)
- MSc in Algebra
- MSc in Biostatistics
- MSc in Physical Chemistry
- MSc in Computer Science
- MSc in Sustainable Energy Engineering
- MSc in Hydraulic Engineering
