A supervision team from the Ministry of Education has conducted a comprehensive performance evaluation of Injibara University’s progress in implementing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), as part of the national 2017 E.C. higher education assessment program.

The evaluation, which involved virtual discussions with university senate members, academic staff, administrative personnel, and student representatives, focused on the university’s performance in relation to the KPIs agreed upon with the Ministry of Education.

During the session, Dr. Gardachew Worku, President of Injibara University, provided a detailed presentation outlining the university’s strides in teaching and learning, research, community engagement, and modernization of its academic environment. He emphasized efforts to create an inclusive and high-performing academic culture for both students and staff. However, Dr. Gardachew also pointed out key challenges hindering performance, including security concerns, the rising cost of living for teachers, and shortages of vital resources.

Mr. Lingerew Atniku, Executive of Strategic Affairs, delivered a performance report highlighting achievements such as increased student enrollment, improved exit exam pass rates, the upgrading of laboratory facilities, and ongoing infrastructure development. He also noted that budget limitations and regional instability had impacted the university’s ability to meet certain targets.

Dr. Aemiro Tadesse, Vice President for Academic Affairs, supplemented the evaluation with a report detailing notable advancements in faculty and student capacity building, the successful implementation of the national exit exam and NGAT, the expansion of digital learning platforms, and the enhancement of academic programs and administrative structures. He also cited the university’s clean audit report and its growing entrepreneurial activities through the Sutana Enterprise as marks of progress.

The Ministry’s evaluation team recognized Injibara University’s achievements and expressed appreciation for its performance amidst prevailing challenges. They emphasized the critical role of continued collaboration among faculty, students, and staff in achieving the university’s KPI targets.

Among the evaluation delegates were Dr. Abunu Arega and Dr. Esubalew Getnet from the Ministry, along with Dr. Solomon Alemu, Vice President for Administration and Development at Ambo University. The team had previously conducted face-to-face discussions with Dr. Gardachew and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the university through coordinated efforts with stakeholders.
